Interim Appointment: Chief Executive
Visit Lincolnshire is the partnership organisation set up to raise the profile of Lincoln and Lincolnshire as a visitor destination. We achieve this through marketing the destination to a regional and national audience. To ensure the visitor experience is positive we also work with tourism businesses to improve the quality of the product in the region and offer opportunities for individuals working in the industry to develop relevant skills.
We are committed to growing the visitor economy which as a sector is second only to food and farming in importance to Lincolnshire.
Context
Visit Lincolnshire has an annual turnover in the region of £1.6 million and currently employs 22 staff.
Approximately 30% of current funding is via contracts with East Midlands Development Agency (the regional development agency) and a further 30% via contracts with Lincolnshire local authorities. Given the uncertainty over the future of RDAs and stringent pressures on public sector funding there is a need to drive up commercial income and to develop a robust business plan for the company.
We are currently seeking an Interim Chief Executive to help us with the future direction of our company.
Key tasks
• To scope out future role of Visit Lincolnshire based on stakeholders views and needs; sponsors, clients, member, industry contacts.
• To evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of current Visit Lincolnshire model including trading activity.
• To develop 3 year Business Plan for Visit Lincolnshire (and trading arm) based on new business development and commercialisation of marketing campaigns and other activity.
• To secure broad buy-in from Lincolnshire stakeholders for future vision for Visit Lincolnshire, and strategic direction for the visitor and leisure economy.
• To manage the process of any transition/structural change including staff development and retention.
Experience required
• Business background in sales/marketing communications/business development.
• A strategic understanding of the leisure sector, destination marketing and management.
• An appreciation of the challenges of partnership working and a broad understanding of local authorities as organisations.
• Experience in change management and income generation.
• Senior level manager, personable, excellent negotiator.
