Lincolnshire Tourism uses an evaluation model called STEAM (Scarborough Tourism Economic Activity Monitor) to calculate how much tourism is worth to Lincolnshire.
STEAM measures the value of tourism from the demand and supply side.
STEAM provides general information for monitoring trends. The model is nationally recognised and our figures are used as a county and local economic indicator.
Tourism: the value to Lincolnshire
• In 2007, 16.7 million visitors spent £927 million
• 13.3 million day visitors spent £370 million
• 3.3 million staying visitors spent £556 million
(excludes North and North East Lincolnshire data)
Tourism is the second largest economically important industry to Lincolnshire with a worth of £927m (2007); against Food and Agriculture which is worth £1.6 billion to Lincolnshire.
